The teacher who chose a different classroom

About The Informed Homeschool

Behind The Informed Homeschool is a qualified Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary teacher with a Master of Instructional Leadership, formal mentoring qualifications, and more than twenty years supporting children with complex learning needs in Victorian government schools.

A literacy lead and assistant principal who has taught across Victoria and New South Wales, the work here is grounded in the frameworks that shape effective educational practice: attachment theory, nervous system regulation, structured literacy, and the science of how children actually learn. Not theory for its own sake — but research that has been applied every day, in real classrooms, with real children.

When more and more families began choosing home education — sometimes from genuine passion, more often from necessity — something was clearly missing. The information was scattered, the official documents were dense, and there was no central place offering Australian families clear, honest, evidence-informed guidance.

The Informed Homeschool is that place.

Everything here is built on the same evidence base that underpins quality school-based education — because home educating families deserve access to the same rigour, translated into something they can actually use. Whether your child has complex learning needs, a neurodivergent profile, or simply doesn't thrive in a conventional classroom, this is a space built with your family in mind.

Whether you're just starting out in Victoria, navigating the NSW Authorised Person process, or writing your QLD annual report for the first time — there's something here for you.
